WHAT IS REIKI AND WHERE DOES IT ORIGINATE FROM?

• Dr Usui rediscoverd the Seven Reiki Symbols in a twenty five hundred year old ancient Sanskrit Sutra text and founded the Original Seven Level System of Reiki.

 

• Each Reiki Level corresponds to a certain energy center of consciousness, a 'chakra'. There are Seven primary chakras in the body. The Reiki symbols represent a language of energy a specific formula that activates universal energy. 

 

• Dr Mikao Usui kept the authentic Reiki symbols completely intact and always honoured and respected their true form. Having rediscovered the formula in the ancient sutras and having recieved its application through his meditation Dr Mikao Usui then passed on his work to others including his successor who was Japanese Dr. Chujiro Hayashi continuing the Reiki tradition and ensuring that all of the true Reiki symbols are sacred and complete.

 

• Reiki energy is a subtle energy. It is different than electricity or chemical energy or other kinds of physical energy. Reiki energy if the Universal Life Force Energy.

 

• Reiki energy comes down from above and to enter the top of the practitioners head after which it flows to the heart and through the body and out the hands.

HOW MANY LEVELS ARE THERE TO THE REIKI TRAINING?

• In the Original Seven Level System of Reiki, there are seven Reiki levels which correspond to seven major energy centres. 

 

• You can learn Reiki Degree 1 in a one day class to have the touch activated healing in your own hands permantly and to use this healing energy for personal empowerment.

 

• In further training you have the ability to continue ascending through the higher Reiki levels thus raising your vibration and energy further.

IS REIKI A RELIGION?

• Although Reiki energy is spiritual in nature, Reiki is not a religion.

 

• Practitioners are not asked to change any religious or spiritual beliefs they may have. They are free to continue believing anything they choose and are encouraged to make their own decisions concerning the nature of their religious practices.

HOW IS A REIKI TREATMENT GIVEN?

• In a standard treatment Reiki energy flows from the practitioners hands into the client. The client is usually laying on a massage table but treatments can also be given while the client is seated. The client remains fully clothed.

 

• The practitioner places her/his hands on or near the clients body in a series of hand positions. These include positions around the head and shoulders, the stomach, and feet. Other, more specific positions may be used based on the clients needs.

 

• The Reiki energy is then received in any position and is divinely guided to flow to where the body requires it most including the physical, emotional, mental and spiritual levels. Each position is held for three to five minutes depending on how much Reiki the client needs at each position.

WHAT DOES A REIKI TREATMENT FEEL LIKE?

• What one experiences during a Reiki treatment varies from person to person.

• Usually, a client feels to be in a meditative state of being.

 

• Feelings of deep relaxation are usually felt by all.

 

• In addition, many feel a wonderful glowing radiance that flows through and surrounds them.

 

• As the Reiki energy assists one to let go of all tension, anxiety, fear or other negative feelings a state of peace and well-being is experienced.

 

• Some drift off to sleep or report floating outside their bodies or have visions and other mystical experiences.

 

• At the end of the treatment, both the client and the practitioner feel refreshed and energised with a more positive, balanced outlook.

WHAT BENEFITS DO I GET FROM A REIKI TREATMENT?

• Reiki is a natural form of treatment producing excellent life changing results. Reiki has had a positive affect on all forms of illness and negative conditions. This includes minor things like head or stomach aches, bee stings, colds, flu, tension and anxiety as well as serious illness like heart disease, cancer, leukemia, etc. ​

 

• It cleares negative patterns, programs and addictions to dissolve away giving a sense of inner peace on all levels. It helps to remove the symtoms of dis-ease such as: chronic fatigue, arthritis, rheumatic aches and other bodily pains, stress, tension, hyperactivity, A.D.D. and A.D.H.D. boosting and balancing the immune system and rejuvenating the body. Recovery rate is twice as fast for recovery after a surgery, healing broken bones, sprains, swelling, bites, burns, stings and cuts.

 

• It clears energy channels and meridians from  toxins promoting a state of total relaxation and feelings of joy. 

 

• It doesn’t interfere with medications that you may already be taking — it truly is a complementary therapy. ​The side effects of regular medical treatments have also been reduced or eliminated. • If one has a medical or psychological condition, it is recommended that one see a licensed health care professional in addition to receiving Reiki treatments.

 

• Reiki energy works in harmony with all other forms of healing, including prescription drugs, surgery, psychological care or any other method of complimentary care and will improve the results.

WHO CAN LEARN TO DO REIKI?

• Reiki is a very simple technique to learn and does not require any prior training or formal experience with healing, meditation or any other kind of training.

 

• It has been successfully learned by people from all walks of life, both young an old.

 

• The reason it is so easy to learn that it is not taught in the usual way something is taught.

 

• The ability to do Reiki is simply provided by the teacher to the student through a process called an attunement that takes place during a Reiki class. As soon as one receives an attunement, they have the ability to do Reiki and after that whenever one places their hands on themselves or on another person with the intention of doing Reiki, the healing energy will automatically begin flowing. 

 

• In Reiki Degree 1 you receive instruction and step by step guidelines how to apply and use the energy in self healing for yourself and to share with family, your friends and pets.

HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO LEARN REIKI?

• A beginning Reiki class is generally done over the course of a weekend, and will allow you to learn how to administer the healing energy. After a reiki class, you will be able to tend to your own needs, and offer it to friends and family. Should you be inspired to go further, advanced Reiki classes are available as well.

 

• Along with the attunement, students will be given applications and shown how to give treatments and also to practice giving treatments in class.

WHAT IS A REIKI ATTUNEMENT?

• A Reiki attunement is the process by which a person receives the ability to access the life-force energy and give Reiki treatments.

 

• The attunement is administered by the qualified Reiki Teacher during the Reiki class.  It is given in a way that includes partly mental, partly visual, and partly physical steps using a specific energy formula.

 

• The Reiki Teacher activates you to the Universal energy which aligns and balances all of your body's major energy centres of consciousness and activates the Reiki energy to flow from the palms of your own hands. This gentle procedure brings about bliss and peace releasing a feeling of overall calm and a positive flow of health and wellbeing.

HOW DO I FIND THE RIGHT REIKI TEACHER TO TRAIN WITH?

• We highly recommend a treatment with a teacher of your choice first.

 

• Observe their vitality before and after the session as well as your own healing experience. In doing so you can observe if they are being a living example and truth of the energy of which they teach, work with and speak as a Reiki practitioner. 

 

• You will feel, sense and know within your heart when you are truly ready to train with the right Reiki Teacher.

OTHER SYSTEMS?

• To be certain, it is wise to enquire of the person's lineage. If there is any slight deviation from the correct lineage the teacher or student will be unable to safely channel the radiant power of the Reiki healing energy through them.

 

• If you have trained in another system and after a period of time, found that after giving treatments, you had been feeling drained, depleted of energy etc, then you may be have been taking on another person's energy and their problems such as their ills, aches, pains and emotional baggage. You may have been misaligned by the master/teacher in the system you had trained in and they may not be aware of this happening to thier students.

 

• The misalignment may have created a weakness in the aura of your energy field.

 

• It is strongly recommended and advisable that the person would have to be retrained and attuned correctly to the Universal energy of Reiki by a fully qualified Reiki 3B, 5B or 7B Teacher in the Original Seven Level System of Reiki.

CAN I TREAT MYSELF?

• Yes, once you have received the attunement, you can treat yourself as well as others.

 

• This is one of the unique features of Reiki.

HOW CAN REIKI BE SENT TO OTHERS AT A DISTANCE?

• In Reiki Degree 2, you are given three Reiki symbols. These symbols are empowered by the Reiki Degree 2 attunement and make up a formula that is used to send distant Reiki to a person. They could be hundreds of miles away, but it makes no difference.

 

• The Reiki energy will go to them and treat them.

WHAT DOES IT FEEL LIKE TO GIVE A REIKI TREATMENT?

• When giving a Reiki treatment, the Reiki energy flows through the practitioner before leaving the hands and flowing into the client. Because of this, the practitioner receives a treatment also.

 

• As the Reiki energy flows through the practitioner, she/he will feel more energised and uplifted.

CAN CHILDREN LEARN REIKI?

• Yes, Reiki can be taught to anyone.

 

• It is recommended that a child be old enough to understand what Reiki is and how to use it, however, it is not essential.

IS IT SAFE FOR PREGNANT WOMEN?

• Since Reiki is guided by the Higher Power, the Reiki energy works as divine intelligence and will go where it is mostly required.

 

• Reiki can only be used for the highest good.

 

• Many pregnant women have received treatments with great benefit to them and their unborn child. It has also been used during child birth. Pregnant women have also taken the Reiki training and received the Reiki attunement with beneficial results.

WHAT ABOUT BABIES?

• Babies love receiving Reiki energy. It is very healthy for them.  

 

• As with adults, Reiki energy will go to where it is mostly required.

 

• Reiki treatments tend to be a lot shorter for babies and children because they already have a lot of energy.

CAN I TREAT ANIMALS OR PLANTS?

• Animals love Reiki too. They seem to have a natural understanding of what Reiki is and its benefits.

 

• Plants also respond well to Reiki.

ARE THERE ANY SIDE EFFECTS FROM A REIKI TREATMENT?

• Most of the time a person will feel relaxed and uplifted by a Reiki treatment.

 

• Reiki energy does not have any contradictions.

• Yes, this is one of the wonderful benefits of Reiki and is why it is such a wonderful technique for the new millennium. It allows individuals and groups to do something positive about the challenging situations we see on the news involving so many people all over the planet.
